    Let’s do this >:)

  • Sam Gardner says:

Also, I’ll do my best to cover resolutions and breaks

  • Artem says:

    Woot!
I must say that for a second year tournament to attract two hundred parli debaters is pretty impressive. Kudos to the Claremont kids. SoCal debate seems to have really grown recently (I can see the same pattern in LD).

  • BenjaminMorris says:

There’s 49 Entries and they’re breaking to QUARTER finals????

  • BenjaminMorris says:

I think this means not all 5-1′s break, but I’m not sure.

  • Erik Camacho says:

The tournament only has 5 prelims meaning that you would have to go 4-1 with medium high speaks to break i think.

  • POI says:

    any news?

  • Sam Gardner says:

    Varsity Quarters:
    J D/Y def R T/N
    A M/B def A C/A (Walkover)
    P (La Jolla) H/G def C(Carlsbad)M/G(sadface)
    R B/R def X C/C

    Semis:
    A M/B def R B/R
    J D/Y def P(La Jolla) H/G

    Finals:
    A M/B def J D/Y

    Champion
    A M/B

I don’t have all of the novice topics and I’m going to ask the novi of the team what their topics were. I’ll post that tomorrow and I’ll also deduce what the codes of the teams stood for. If you want I can also post novice breaks. The break from prelims to quarters was brutal. I think a couple of 4-1 teams may not have broken.

  • POI says:

    Thanks!

Why were novice topics different from varsity? Yes, novice breaks would be appreciated. Also, if you happen to remember who were the non-advancing 4-1s, we need that for POI Rankings.

Tell us if this sounds right (it’s a guess based on the initials):
    J D/Y – El Modena DY (Doan/York)
    R T/N – La Quinta TN (Traina-Grandon/Nelson)
    A M/B – Bentley MB (McKenna/Brog)
    A C/A – Bentley CA (Chong/Ozzie)
    P H/G – La Jolla HG (Yume/Gammage)
    C M/G – Carlsbad MG (Maldi/Gardner)
    R B/R – La Quinta BR (Boiko/Robles)
    X C/C – Oxford Academy CC (Criss/Cervantes)

    Quarters Varsity:

    Finals:

The Varsity prelims the Varsity quarters and the semis topics are all 100% correct. The novice prelims, novice quarters, and the finals topic may be out of order. Still waiting on non-breaking 4-1s.

  • Artem says:

Prelim results have been posted, rankings will be updated soon.

Was there any particular reason for why elims weren’t powered high-low?

Congratulations to Sam for being first seed and to Annie for repping SNFI.

I believe this would be the a fourth tournament championship for Mr. Brog, which is not only pretty impressive for a junior, but might actually be a record.
