The overall tournament was pretty smooth, but there were a lot of lay/ comm judges in the preliminary rounds due to flow judges being transferred to policy. Even though the topics were released, no pre written cases ot blocs were allowed in the rounds. There were originally 4 divisions in parliamentary, but due to a lack of parli debaters, all 4 divisions (novice, junior, senior and champ) were merged. Unlike last year’s Whitman tournament where there was a good turnout in parli, this year, only 8 teams showed up- 3 from Ashland, 3 from BC Academy, 1 from Crescent Valley and 1 from Sam Barlows. The times of each speech were really different from what any of us were accustomed to, so there were minor confusions, but at the end of the day, it really was an amazing experience.
The overall result was a 3-0 win for BC Academy (prop). Impact calc clearly was the way to go! Thanks Alice for everything, I really appreciate it :)
