The 2010 NFL National Tournament featured an experimental debate event roughly modeled after parli. In the final round, New Jersey’s Tejus Pradeep negated against Erin Morris from Missouri, winning on a 6-1 ballot. Nick Hall of Valencia also took 2nd in Impromptu.
…And Safeena Mecklai (Mira Loma) took 4th in Impromptu.
Whoops, I didn’t see that she got 4th. Congrats to her as well!
Iain started a thread here about how CA kids did at Nats: http://www.forensicsonline.net/forum/showthread.php/8747-CA-at-Nats-2010-2011-Predictions?p=139435#post139435
Some of the parli people who did well (that I recognize): Tanay Kothari, Rylan Schaeffer, Remi Sun, Jacob Baker, Mecklai, Hall, Wilkie, Courtney Shipp, and Anthony Paranzino.
Congrats to everyone!!
Has anyone heard whether the parli-esque supplemental debate event was a hit? I read somewhere that over 500 kids entered it, but that’s perhaps because it’s the only supplemental option for debate kids.
Hearty congratulations. keep it up. Shobha Ammumma
Awesome. Congratulations!!!!
Safeena and I crossed over into PFD from Parli and got to Round 9. Yay.
@Aditya
The general consensus (from the people I talked to) was that it was alright but desperately needs some tweaks for balance. I dont recall exactly, twas a while ago, but speech times and more balanced topics came up a lot.
To be frank, it wasnt much like parli. Everything was preannounced so most everyone was prepped, few people bothered with definitions or even a weighing mechanism. Sort of like 1v1 pufo, but better than pufo.
If that makes any sense.
Congratulations, Tejus!! Way to go!! Keep it up!
