PV Peninsula Takes Claremont 2011
It is my personal opinion that in terms of the qualities of topics, opponents, and even judging (hey, it’s open parli you can’t expect full flow panels every time) Claremont Invitational has become one of the best tournaments for parliamentary debate around. Yes, a prep room and an octofinal round would have been nice, but thanks to the efforts of everyone involved (chief among whom was Patrick Wilkie who did a phenomenal job with topics and tabbing) it seemed like parliamentary debate was run far more smoothly than the rest of the tournament. Congratulations to PV Peninsula and Esperanza on a great showing. Unfortunately, a couple of 4-1 teams did not break to quarters. These teams probably deserve some recognition, and if I can procure a full packet from tab I will certainly post names. Topics and Novice results will be posted tomorrow.

Hey just wanted to see if I could help in supplying some of the missing info.
In semis pv peninsula beat carlsbad 3-0.
In finals we beat esperanza 2-1.
Also, my partner and I, pv peninsula nj (alex nguyen and saral jalan) were one of the 4-1 teams that didn’t break. Shame
Anyway, my first post on this website; recently found about it.
Keep up the good work everybody!
Best,
Alex

Thanks, Alex, I added you guys to POI Rankings (http://www.pointofinformation.org/news/california-cup-2011-update/)
It’s a good thing you found POI, I’m hoping to see PV Peninsula at California Cup
Woot, woot! Shout-out to Patrick Wilkie!
Full results for parli prelims have been posted at joy. I can also email the spreadsheets for breaks/prelims if anyone wants them, just lemme know.
Sorry bout the 4-1s who didn’t break. We’ve all been there, but we couldn’t make an octos break unfortunately, nor a partial.
Glad Wolfpack was a hit, hope you return next year.
