Olivia Flechsig and Max Esslinger win the second SNFI Camp Tournament

Week two of the two-week SNFI parliamentary debate program concluded this morning with a final round in which Olivia Flechsig & Max Esslinger successfully affirmed the resolution “The United Nations should make Brazil a permanent member of the Security Council” against Sarthak Agrawal & Lena Duffield.
Jon Thorpe and Kate Drew both voted for the affirmative. The floor vote, by a margin of 10 – 1, also favored the affirmative.

The final round was preceded by six preliminary rounds. The top-seeded team of Agrawal & Duffield completed their six rounds 6 – 0 and received a bye to the final. Number two seed Flechsig & Esslinger (4 – 2) defeated number three seed Dana Scott & Maddy Nam (3 – 3) in the tournament’s semifinal round.

The semifinal round was adjudicated by Becky Vastola and Peter Counts who both voted that Flechsig & Esslinger negated the resolution “True Love Waits.” The floor also voted 11 – 0 in favor of the negation.

Recordings were made of both rounds and will be made available. Agrawal finished as the tournament’s top speaker and was followed by Scott and Nam.
