Can someone please post the speaker awards?
Did they give out speaker awards for Parli/PF?
Not a 100% sure, but I think they only had speaker awards for LD/Policy.
Yeah, just got word from my team that PoFo and Parli didn’t get speaker awards.
The points will be up on JOT soon enough. I guess POI will table some of the top speaks on the site?
Sorry not to have written down the top speaker info, but I know that Brian Qiu from Lowell finished as #4 speaker at MLK
1. Sahil Pandya (Irvington) 148.8
2. Akshai Shrivastava (Mountain View) 145
3. Jeremy Sharma (Logan) 143
4. Brian Qiu (Lowell) 142.5
5t. Safeena Mecklai (Mira Loma) 142
5t. Pradhan Bhat (Granite Bay) 142
7t. Keizra Mecklai (Mira Loma) 141
7t. Tejas Navaratra (Lynbrook) 141
7t. Alison Ong (Lowell) 141
7t. Shiran Sukumar (Logan) 141
7t. Jason Alafgani (Lowell)
Honorable Mention: Rohan Agarwal of Irvington (would have gotten 146.25 if not for a typo where a 30 speaks was entered as 3. Miraculously, they still broke on a 3-2 high speaks. Respect)
Speaker points were extremely variable, though. Some judges based points on the criteria on the ballot (1 for bad, 2 for fair, 3 for good, 4 for excellent, 5 for superior or whatever for each category), which made REALLY low speaks in some rounds. The team that got to QF at States last year got a 10 for speaks in one round, which is absolutely ridiculous. I don’t know how Logan addressed the issue of extreme speak deviance.

Props to tab for posting results within the day.
Lol, Jason.
Speaker awards for Parli will consist of nicely folded colored paper;) Congrats to all the winners!!
Wow, so that’s two years in a row that Niraj Asthana has won MLK, beating Lynbrook teams both times. Congrats to everyone!
THW stop using colored paper.
lol
Did any school get their ballots back?
I’ll check tomorrow.
Is the any reason why Granite Bay BS, who should have been 2nd seed, do not appear in elims?
According to Jason, Granite Bay BS lost to Leland YR in dubs, although they don’t appear on the JOT list.
This also means the POI Rankings will be updated to include them.
