Hey Artem were you the dissenter?
No, the squirrel goes first in the audio.
My RFD is last.
GB loves saying “we can see.”
Good round. Nice, clear definition.
I judged them in prelims, they were outstanding. A well deserved win.
Bishop, Bentley, Granite Bay, and James Logan. That’s a pretty legit final four.
the second picture should read:
from left to right: Ben Prager, Gokul Asokan, Jessica Northam, Gary Nielsen and Stacey Wong; All Granite Bay.
They won the small school sweepstakes.
Nielsen and Wong also broke to finals in OPP and extemp (respectively)
Northam triple broke and made it to quarters in ld, Semis in impromptu and finals in persuasive.
Overall, a great showing for Granite Bay
Apologies for my factual incorrectness in this round. It was a long weekend? haha.
@ GBay – my bad, I was literally falling asleep when I posted the picture
@Stacey – this was probably the least factually incorrect round I judged at SCU. I judged an LD round in which the competitors agreed that Saddam Hussein was a terrorist because he was part of the Taliban :/
Wow Congrats Granite Bay on a spectacular win!
Does anyone else agree that the outcomes from the prelims were all over the place? Bentley originally didn’t break (although they certainly deserved to) and granite bay lost their first two then had a bye…meaning that the champions only won two in prelims. All of the top seeded teams, with the exception of James Logan, dropped quickly in the elims. However, it seems that the world righted itself through the early elims; the final four were all deserving, i think.
Artem,
I think the kids might be right on that one. Saddam Hussein actually used terrorist support to instill fear in Iraq. Also, the guy was said to be meeting Al Qaeda and the Taliban forces.

By the way, what schools were those competitors from?
No, he literally said Saddam was from Afghanistan, not just that he talked to the Taliban at some point. I asked after the round to make sure he actually meant that.
I don’t remember the school.
Prelims were rough for Stacey and I being that this was our first legitimate tournament together this year. We hit two solid teams the first day and the next morning we actually had a no show, not a bye, but nonetheless a very good tournament for us. Thanks to all of our judges for the helpful RFD’s.
Gary, I can relate; this was my first real tournament with my partner, kevin. and i think it was brogs first with his partner as well. im not sure about maybie. looks like everyones adjusting to the new “season”
I added a link to full results (including the packet). Please fill in any missing elims info / resolutions wording.
Ben/Shiran are a new partnership this year, but they already went to UOP together.
P.S. Just read the above article proving that Saddam was a terrorist, and I loved it – “any person who causes some kind of harm to others is truly nothing more than a terrorist. In that sense, Saddam was also a terrorist.”
I’m sure people who think Assange is a terrorist who should be assassinated with a drone would be thrilled about this definition.
I heard that there is video of GB vs Logan. When is that going up?
whenever I figure out how to compress it
also, what was the deal with Bentley not breaking originally?
Bentley had 17th seat. A team decided to drop and not go and they had the next place.
