Anyone still in high school next year? Jealous much?

  • Iain Lampert says:

    1) I’m into UCSD, UCLA and Cal. I’m waiting on Whitman (and their Presidential Scholarship…fingers crossed) and Pomona (top choice by a country mile).
    2) If I get into Pomona, I’ll go.
    3) Kevin Amirdjanian, our president, is thinking USC. He got into Claremont McKenna, too. Nick (not a teammate, but a soul mate), is into Gettysburg and is waiting on Georgetown.
    4) I sure am.
    5) Definitely. I’d like to work as an Impromptu coach.

Anyone planning to continue debate in college? Fuck no.
Anyone planning to come back to high school parli to judge, coach, etc.? fuck yes.

  • Aditya says:

I’m still deciding between Cal and Columbia

Vikram seems to be leaning toward the Naval Academy, but I’m not sure whether he’s decided already.

  • Definitely Not Benyamin Morris says:

Aditya, definitely go to Columbia. It will pay off in the long run. youll get access to so much resources and jobs. Cal might be ranked batter academically in whatever subject you choose to pursue, but the prestige of columbia (2nd most selective school after Harvard) can’t be beat. There will be companies waiting to hire you and grad schools lining up to accept you. The academic experience is amazing and you’ll get plenty of individualized attention that you wouldnt get at Cal, being on of tens of thousands of students in a weak and run down public school system. It’s a hefty investment, you wont regret it. I know many who similarly chose ivies over Cal regent’s/ ucla, and they never regretted it. Btw, cal regetns isnt a reason to turn down columbia

  • Benjamin Morris says:

^ For the record, I have no idea who the above person is.

  • Aditya says:

I do find it a little odd that they know I have regents at Cal…
Anyway, whoever it is, I’d definitely appreciate any more thoughts you have on the matter, but I’d prefer FB message, or if you’re someone I know, gtalk/aim…
Definitely thanks for your advice though! There are a lot of factors I’m considering, and you’re spot on about many of Columbia’s advantages.

  • Becky Vastola will be attending UCLA.

  • Benjamin Morris says:

I too will be attending UCLA.

  • Armand Domalewski says:

    do debate at la!

  • Rohit Unni says:

I’ll be attending Washington University in St Louis. I believe theyre NPDA, but probably not doing debate there, I would like to judge tho if i come back at convenient times

  • Definitely Benyi says:

so where did everyone decide? Im especially curious about Logan, Aditya, Rebbecca, and Vikram

  • Aditya says:

I decided on Columbia, and Vikram will be at the Naval Academy.

  • Rebecca says:

    To “definitely not benjamin morris”:
Considering how many people on here have chosen to attend public schools in california or elsewhere, I would really appreciate it if you kept your negative, and frankly insulting, comments to yourself. Our “weak and run down public school system” is an offensive distortion of reality. Our public universities are awesome, have fantastic programs, and do provide a great education. As someone who was choosing between a “prestigious”, as you say, private school and a public university, they both have unique strengths and different things to offer. it’s about figuring out what will be most beneficial

  • Millerick says:

It should be noted that UC Berkeley is still a top tier institution and depending on one’s department, one will not be very affected by tuition increases. The fact is, even with tuition increases, it will still be a better deal than most other schools comparably ranked. Most of the departments in the sciences receive large amounts of Federal funding, and are being minimally affected by budget cuts.

  • Stacey says:

Gary will be on scholarship at BYU!
I’ll be joining Counts at Stanford.

  • Logan says:

I’m going to Dartmouth College next year.

  • Artem says:

Damon and Rylan will be joining me at UCD

  • Jason Fauss says:

    Brian Castelloe is at Pomona.

  • Benjamin Morris says:

Keizra Mecklai: Early Decision to Duke!

  • jthorpe says:

    Congratulations to Ms. Mecklai.
